There’s one thing people can’t seem to move on from when it comes to the Apple iPhone 7, and that’s the missing earphone port. Sure, that’s a bummer. But everything’s going wireless these days anyway. Wouldn’t you rather be able to listen without being tangled in wires?

On the other hand, you may lose your Lightning EarPods along the way, but Apple does still include a lightning adapter for your earphones as well. It’s a win-win situation, right?

And no one seems to notice that with the lack of that one little hole comes the improvement of the iPhone as a whole. So, what exactly are those improvements?

Well, besides good waterproofing, it’s also safe to say that gone are the days of Space Grey iPhones. Today is the day for black, silver, gold, and rose gold, and even red!

The Home button has also been revamped. It’s actually not even a button any more. It now has haptic feedback to replace the button and to mimic the feel of it. But it still takes some getting used to because you’ll feel like you’re actually pushing down on the whole bottom section of your screen. Fret not. You can adjust how strongly you’ll feel the clicks on it on the settings page too.

Despite this, Apple has also not gotten rid of the Apple TouchID. So, transactions remain safe and secure.

Triumphs in hardware also include the 4.7-inch 1,334x750 screen. With 326dpi, smaller texts are easier to read now and images appear sharper even from afar. It’s also much brighter – by 25% to be exact!

Meanwhile, the software boasts of a few minor tweaks as well. Widgets have now been moved into the lock screen. You also won’t have to stop listening to your favorite tunes while you take selfies. The music apps no longer shuts down when taking photos.

And while the iPhone 7 has not upgraded its megapixel size, it does already include optical image stabilization and excellent color management for maintaining the true colors of subjects. At f/1.8, many of Apple users will be able to create that nice blurred background effect usually reserved for more high-end image capturing devices.

Overall, Apple has reconsidered a lot of things while they were designing the iPhone 7. And while many are still bummed out about the missing earphone jack, the iPhone 7 is still buzzing with newer technologies that will surely excite and help new and already existing users.
